Encourage North-East schools to participate in the UNICEF Soccer Challenge

Primary and secondary schools across the North East of Scotland are being urged to put on their boots and take part in the UNICEF Football Challenge.

The Soccer Aid Schools Challenge is back and open to all children, regardless of ability. It is designed to allow schools to collaborate with pupils to design an obstacle course to gain each other’s skills, while also raising money to help UNICEF’s work for children around the world.

Pupils can dribble, kick or bounce the ball, run, jump or jump across the field and help children get the playtime they deserve. Youth can either make a donation to participate in their school’s challenge, ask parents to sponsor them or run a charity bake sale to help fundraise.

Funds raised from the Soccer Schools Challenge can help UNICEF fight malnutrition, keep children safe in times of crisis, and get them back to school. It could also help provide vaccines against preventable diseases like polio, so all children can grow up happy, healthy, and able to play. By participating, schools help protect play for every child.

Sarah Wren, UNICEF Chief of Soccer Aid, said: “As Soccer Aid for UNICEF returns for its twelfth year, we’re excited to get kids out of the house and get them all moving for a great cause.

“Every child deserves access to clean water, an education and a safe space, but unfortunately as we know, this is not the case for many children around the world. Taking part in the Soccer Aid School Challenge is a fun way we can do our part in helping children in those situations bounce back.” To the childhood full of toys they deserve.”

Schools participating in the challenge will be provided with a fundraising pack full of tips for planning a fun fundraiser to ensure they raise as much money as possible for children around the world. All fundraising efforts will go towards supporting Soccer Aid for UNICEF.

This year, Soccer Aid for Unicef ​​will return to Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday 11th June and will be broadcast live on ITV1, STV and ITVX.

Since 2006 – when UNICEF UK Ambassador Robbie Williams co-founded the concept – Soccer Aid for Unicef ​​has raised over £75 million to help give children around the world a childhood full of play.

Schools can start the Schools Challenge at any time from receiving the fundraising package through the end of May, with total money donations announced as part of the live match in June.
