The Dallas Cowboys made a deal on a key wide receiver to help boost the offense on Sunday.
The Cowboys acquired Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans for a fifth round draft pick in 2023 and a sixth round pick in 2024.
The trade comes after Cooks expressed dissatisfaction with the franchise and made it clear that he did not want to be a part of the rebuild.

“My mind isn’t there. I don’t look at it so much as part of the rebuilding, but that’s what it looks like. That’s why I trust my camp and my representation to be able to get a map from here to there and see what looks like part of something that has a credible plan,” he told reporters. in January, adding, “I’m not going into the off-season thinking I want to be part of the rebuild.”
Cooks led the Texans with 57 catches for 699 yards in 13 games during the 2022 season. He also had three touchdown catches. He signed a contract extension ahead of the 2022 season, but Houston mustered only three wins in 2022 and finished second in the NFL Draft.

The wide receiver is under contract through the 2024 season. He will reportedly earn $18 million in 2023.

Cooks is set to add some firepower to the Dallas offense after Amari Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns last season and failed to adequately replace the dynamic receiver. The chefs will line up with CeeDee Lamb on offense.

Dallas came fourth in points and 11th in yards in 2022. The team failed to make it past the divisional round of the playoffs for the second year in a row.
